This hands-on class is designed specifically for recumbent riders and focuses on both preventing flats and dealing with them realistically when they happen. We’ll talk about tire choice, proper inflation, tubeless setups, sealants, and other strategies that can reduce your chances of a roadside problem in the first place.
You’ll also get hands-on practice with basic flat repair, including removing and replacing an inner tube and patching a puncture.
Because some recumbent wheels—especially those with hub motors or internally geared hubs—aren’t easy to remove on the roadside, we’ll also cover practical emergency options, including temporary sealants, roadside assistance, and knowing when a repair is better handled back at the shop.
We’ll help you think through what belongs in a trailside repair kit for your particular bike or trike, so you’re carrying what’s actually useful rather than a random collection of tools.
The goal isn’t to turn you into a bicycle mechanic. It’s to help you prevent the flats you can, handle the repairs that are realistically within your reach, and have a backup plan for the ones that aren’t.
$15 of your class tuition may be applied toward the purchase of tools, repair supplies, or other equipment for your own trailside repair kit.
