POSTPONED Shop Talk: Seting up a bike from the frame up

IMG_1538.jpg

This event is POSTPONED due to an unavoidablescheduling conflict, and will NOT be held on April 5th. We will post a new schedule shortly. Apologies for any inconvenience.

You can buy a bike of the shop floor for a few hundred dollars, or you can have one custom-made for you by a premium frame manufacturer for several thousand. In this month’s Shop Talk, we’ll explore the middle ground of the craft build.

Craft build is not a full custom bike, since the frame will not be made to your individual physique. You choose a quality ready-made frame, and select all the components to turn it into a unique bike of your dreams.

We’ll help you evaluate whether this option makes sense for you, and the options for making it all come together. For example, will you go with stock wheels, or order wheel components which will be hand-laced into a premium set of wheels; will you let us do all the work for you, or would you want to be involved in a collaborative build. Last but not least, we’ll help you determine a realistic budget for your project.

Bring your ideas and questions, and lets dig in.

Shop Talk is an informal monthly series, during which we’ll go into a selected topic at some depth in a relaxed, social atmosphere. We provide snacks and some beverages, but feel free to BYOB.
