Shop Talk: Women's Cycling Workshop

lead_720_405.jpg

““Let me tell you what I think of bicycling. I think it has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world. It gives women a feeling of freedom and self-reliance. I stand and rejoice every time I see a woman ride by on a wheel…the picture of free, untrammeled womanhood.”--Susan B. Anthony

What better way to commemorate International Women’s Day, than meet at your local woman-co-owned bike shop with other cycling women, and celebrate cycling over a beer or two. If you are an experienced cyclist, come and share your experience, if you’re a novice, come and find support and comraderie.

We’ll discuss, among other things: bike fit and selection, saddles, women-specific vs. unisex bikes, whether men have longer torso’s women are from Venus and other industry nonsense, cycling with children*, clothing, routes, security, and more. We’re inviting a panel of Women Who Cycle (and, trust us, they’re not what you might expect), who will share some of their insights, and there will be plenty of time for questions and open discussion.

*A detailed workshop on cycling with children will take place in May.

Shop Talk is an informal monthly series, during which we’ll go into a selected topic at some depth in a relaxed, social atmosphere. We provide snacks and some beverages, but feel free to BYOB.
