COVID-19 Safety Precautions
To our Customers, Supporters & Neighbors,
First of all, we want to emphasize that bicycles remain one of the best ways to get around, and are a terrific autonomous transportation option. In addition, cycling promotes fitness and physical and mental health, and allows us to enjoy the benefits of open spaces, fresh air and sunshine, which is of paramount importance under the current uncertain circumstances.
Under the current guidelines from Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order, we will continue to operate during our normal business hours. However, we will be monitoring the developments closely, and will make adjustments, or even close the shop, should conditions warrant. While we’re open, we’ve instituted a rigorous safety protocol in order to minimize contact and keep everyone safe and healthy.
In order to comply with state and local health recommendations, our staff will be wearing masks when interacting with you. We ask that you please also wear a mask when entering our store. Should you arrive without a mask, please request a free disposable one upon entering.
Hand sanitizer is available in customer waiting area.
Shop personnel will use nitrile gloves handling customers’ bikes and merchandise.
For drop-in customers, please knock and wait to be let in individually, or as a family. We’re lucky to have a decent footprint, and we have set up a customer waiting area inside, however we can only accommodate a small number of waiting customers. We’re cleaning the waiting area with bleach solution or alcohol between visitors. Please be prepared to wait outside if necessary.
Aside from the waiting area and registers, the rest of the shop and merchandise is cordoned off and not accessible to customers. Shop personnel will assist you with getting any merchandise you might need.
If you’re shopping for a bicycle:
Consider ordering from us online, risk-free. Items are available for curbside pickup, and all new bikes are eligible for FREE delivery in Chicago area.
During this time of uncertainty, we’re keeping our inventory of bicycles low, which means more special orders. We’re keeping a close watch on what our vendors have in stock, so we can recommend alternatives in the event of product outages. We’ll help you determine the correct size and any accessories for your desired riding experience.
If you’re test-riding a bicycle, we’ll disinfect the touchpoints on the bike prior to your use, and provide nitrile gloves for your test ride. Please bring your own helmet. We will not be using shop test-ride helmets. Each bike will again be disinfected after use.
If you bring your bike in for repair, we will ask you to have a seat in the waiting area while we complete the estimate for your approval. Or we can collect the bike from you in front of the shop and give you a call once we’ve completed the estimate. If you’re looking for a complete tune-up, please consider requesting an appointment online with free pick-up from your home.
We’ve installed clear Lexan shields between the register and credit card reader as additional protection while accepting payments. You can also pay for various services through our website, via Pay Pal, or by phone. We’ll send email receipts whenever possible.
We are heartbroken for our business neighbors who have been forced to close or severely curtail operations. We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to continue to provide goods and services that enhance the health and well-being of individuals and communities during this time.
